Why?
Mike and I started saxophone together back in 1966, me on Tenor, he on Alto. His college education brought together a mix of musicians that developed into The Mike Kaplan Nonet… solid for over 30 years. Also the Adelante Plus who recorded this session. In 2014 I received the trax to Jerry, just play and learn. It was from a session right before Jerry’s passing. Thank you Mike.
Those familiar with the Kloze Exercises for Saxophone will understand. Not familiar? Go ask a sax player. Jerry has been my Kloze Exercise; learning new techniques, working and refining others. This Mastered Mix is my 3rd performance from scratch, and has the best gruuve to date. My next performance will be with a more Miami Heat sound.

Why?
It’s nice to hear good tunes executed with such soul. Made me want to be a part of the session. Putting myself into the gruuve challenged me to mix my voice in there seamlessly. Much the same on Rudolph Baby, it was like mastering How’s That? while mixing in the voice. Mike, pardon me if I messed up band. But I did get the gruuve?
